Foxglove Beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis) sends up tall spikes of white tubular flowers in late spring. Despite its common name, it is a beardtongue, not a foxglove. This local ecotype brings early season flowers to sunny meadows and woodland edges, when many spring blooms are fading and summer flowers have yet to begin.
