Early Azalea (Rhododendron prinophyllum), also known as roseshell azalea, is a graceful deciduous shrub with fragrant pink flowers that bloom in spring. It grows naturally in Appalachian woods, rocky slopes, and moist thickets. Its spreading shape and bright flowers make it a lovely specimen for a woodland garden, especially where the soil is acidic and stays evenly moist.
